Parker, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound outside linebacker from Camden (N.J.), recently participated at the Rutgers 7-on-7 passing camp. He and three 2016 teammates hold offers from the Scarlet Knights going into the start of training camp.
“I enjoyed it a lot,” Parker said. “It's my first time competing in a 7-on-7, really. It was tough, but I feel like I learned a lot. I worked on my coverage skills. I'm comfortable in the running game, so this is good for my coverage.”
Parker got to see the Rutgers facilities and met some of the coaching staff on his visit.
“I've never really checked it out that much, but it's a nice place,” Parker said. “I feel like Rutgers is the kind of place where I'd be comfortable in college. … I know my recruiting coach, Darrell Wilson. He's from Camden. He's a good guy, but I don't know all of the coaches that well. That's something I'll have to check out.”
Virginia extended a verbal offer during the spring evaluation period, and sits on equal footing for Parker.
“I like it a lot down there,” Parker said. “I liked being down south, and there's a great education. But really, wherever is best for me overall, I'll go.”
Temple was the first school to offer Parker.
“I like that they’re close to home,” Parker said. “I like Philly, and they’re building something with the new coaches.”
