TV: Barnwell Eyes Leadership Role

PISCATAWAY, N.J -- Cornerback Nadir Barnwell enters his sophomore season as a starter after plenty of playing time in 2013. Tired of hearing about the secondary's 2013 struggles, Barnwell spoke with about looking forward and being ready for the Big Ten.

Ian Thomas quit the team after spring camp and Ruhann Peele is back full time at receiver. Rutgers coach Kyle Flood moved Delon Stephenson back to safety as well.

At cornerback, that makes sophomore Nadir Barnwell the most experienced starter on the roster and in line to hear his name called against Washington State.

Barnwell, Anthony Cioffi and Gareef Glashen all saw starting time last season. They enter training camp 2014 as the top three guys at the position with many eager true freshmen gaining ground.

A local kid out of Piscataway High, Barnwell wants to become a leader as a sophomore, and that starts with setting a good example.
