Jacobs Strong in Second Scrimmage

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Sophomore Davon Jacobs saved a touchdown by running more than 100 yards across the field to tackle Paul James on a breakaway. The second team strong safety moved back to his natural position from linebacker in the offseason, and broke down his scrimmage thoughts after its conclusion.

Starting from their one 1-yard line, junior running back Paul James broke a run off tackle that was destined for six points down the right sideline.

Davon Jacobs disagreed. Jacobs broke into a sprint from the box and chased James down to catch him before scoring. A few plays and penalties later and the offense had to punt.

Jacobs worked as the primary backup to Lorenzo Waters at strong safety, and continues to get more comfortable after his return from a year at linebacker. Also a key special teams player, Jacobs broke down his training camp and performance under the lights.
