North Jersey WRs Carroo, Tsimis Shine at WSU

SEATTLE -- Rutgers receivers Leonte Carroo and John Tsimis combined for 191 yards and two touchdowns in the 41-38 thriller last night against Washington State. A special moment for former high school rivals, both spoke 1-on-1 with ScarletReport.com about the offensive successes against WSU.

For Leonte Carroo, it was more of the same, and for John Tsimis, Thursday night was a breakout moment.

Carroo picked up where he left off while healthy last year with a team-high 151 yards. He scored on the first play from scrimmage when quarterback Gary Nova hit him in stride for a 78-yard touchdown.

Tsimis gave Rutgers a fourth-quarter lead when he slipped between cornerback and safety to score on one of his three catches. Tsimis played sparingly as a true freshman after bouncing back from a high school ACL tear. The touchdown with 10:50 on the clock is the first since a junior-year loss in the state championship game against Carroo and Don Bosco.
