Aiken Honored By Big Ten Defensive Award

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Johnathan Aiken's forced fumble and pass breakup did not go unnoticed by the Big Ten in his first game of the season. Named the defensive player of the week, Aiken spoke enthusiastically about the award and what it means to win one for Rutgers.

Johnathan Aiken got the word from roommate Lorenzo Waters, and it still had not sunk in as of Monday afternoon that he was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Aiken made seven tackles against Washington State, including a key forced fumble on a punt return. The senior also broke up a fourth-down pass from Connor Halliday to ice the game for Rutgers.

Aiken broke down the honor and his reactions in a 1-on-1 conversation with ScarletReport.com.
