Barnwell Bothered By Defensive Performance

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The Rutgers secondary knows it has to play better to stop Penn State and Christian Hackenburg next Saturday night in the Big Ten opener. After surrendering 437 total yards as a defense to Howard, Barnwell broke down the day and his excitement for what comes next.

The inability to finish was disappointing to cornerback Nadir Barnwell when loooking back at the overall performance of the defense.

Barnwell and the rest of the defensive secondary gave Howard open space to make plays and missed tackles for the second straight week. Replacing starter Anthony Cioffi midway through the game, Barnwell offered his thoughts on the 39-25 victory.

The former Piscataway four-star cornerback also looked ahead to Penn State, where he visited multiple times as a prospect and knows many players on the roster.
