Walk-on Hunt Steps Up at Safety

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Andre Hunt was ready to go when coach Kyle Flood called his number after an injury to Delon Stephenson. For someone playing the first game of his life on defense, Hunt made an impact and his second-down sack on the final Navy drive helped solidify a 31-24 victory.

Andre Hunt walked on to Rutgers as a running back out of Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy. Two years later, his first impact came at safety after Delon Stephenson left with a leg injury.

Hunt, whose father Leon Hunt played running back at Wisconsin, made his family proud with three tackles and a sack in his debut as a safety.

Hunt is the latest walk on at Rutgers to make an impact, and he happily discussed it in the locker room after the game's conclusion.
