TJ Taylor's Turn to Shine?

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers coach Kyle Flood turned to redshirt freshman T.J. Taylor at Tuesday's practice with starter Steve Longa listed as probable on this week's injury report. A converted safety from nearby South Brunswick High, Taylor is next in line for playing time at weakside linebacker.

Just like Steve Longa's predecessor, T.J. Taylor is a converted safety. Taylor often watches film of Khaseem Greene's weakside role in the Rutgers defense, and said he will be ready for Michigan if No. 36 is called.

Taylor worked primarily with the first team during Tuesday's practice because of Longa's health status. He would start the game if Longa is unavailable, coach Kyle Flood said.

Taylor broke down his excitement level after appearing mostly on special teams in his debut season with Rutgers.
