PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Cornerback Kam Lott came close to playing time with significant injuries at the position over the last two weeks. Rutgers, however, got healthy enough to keep Lott's red-shirt intact. Lott is six weeks into his freshman season after enrolling in the spring. He spoke during the bye week about balancing school and football as a true freshman.
Cornerback Kam Lott has been vocal about Rutgers since committing 18 months ago, and nothing changed during his first two semesters on campus.
Lott enrolled early, and helped the Scarlet Knights get to a 5-1 start with hard work on the practice squad. Lott also worked with the second team in practices when others found themselves on the injury report.
Like many Rutgers freshmen, the first fall is a challenge in the classroom. Lott spoke with Scout.com about meeting the challenges academically, and spreading the word of Rutgers to the Jacksonville, Fla., area whenever he has the opportunity.
