Rutgers Voted Last in Preseason Big Ten Poll

Unofficial media panel picks Scarlet Knights to finish last in Big Ten standings. Wisconsin is unanimous choice for top spot.

Big Ten Basketball Media Day is being held in Rosemont, Ill., Thursday, and during the proceedings the conference will release a list of the conference's top three teams as voted on by the media.

But at last check, there were 14 teams in the B1G, with Maryland and Rutgers joining the fray this year. And at last check, nobody wants to see only three of those 14 teams rated.

So every year at this time, a kind of sort of top-secret media panel comprised of beat writers for every team in the Big Ten projects the final conference standings, first through last. Or in this case, from No. 1 through No. 14.

For Rutgers, coach Eddie Jordan brings the biggest underdogs in the conference to Chicago this week, picked unanimously last by all 27 panelists. Writers unanimously voted Wisconsin to win the conference, following by Ohio State and Michigan State.
