Wednesday Practice Report: Nova Returns

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers approaches the final portion of practice week with Gary Nova back practicing in a limited capacity. Head coach Kyle Flood discussed the latest at the quarterback position and more

Rutgers hosts Wisconsin for Homecoming Saturday, and the game preparations are approaching the final stages.

The Headline -- Senior quarterback Gary Nova took reps in practice Wednesday in his return to the field. Injuring his knee in the 42-24 loss to Nebraska, Nova threw Tuesday and worked a bigger role Wednesday while still “questionable” for kickoff.

Backup Chris Laviano saw a significant amount of action as well with third-stringer Mike Bimonte still in the mix.

Worth Noting -- Robert Martin could appear as a third-down back after showing improvement in practices as a pass protector.

Quote of the Day -- “It’s an interesting comment based on our game. I don’t have a response. Mike [Leach] is entitled to whatever opinion he wants. If you look at the success of our program, eight bowl games in nine years with a lot of New Jersey football players helping us and a few others playing around the country that had pretty good success, I don’t know that there’s a lot of people out there of the opinion that New Jersey high school football isn’t some of the best in the country.” – Kyle Flood on New Jersey football.

On the Other Side -- The start of Rutgers game week included a question and answer session between ScarletReport.com and Scout.com’s Wisconsin site.

Now sit back and take in Flood’s press conference.
