Laviano Learning from In-Game Experience

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Chris Laviano did not earn his first career start Saturday at quarterback, but he gained valuable on-field experience for three straight weeks. Running most of practice during the week, the red-shirt freshman addressed the 37-0 loss to Wisconsin and his role in preparing for the game.

One way or another, Gary Nova's Rutgers career comes to an end this winter, and the spring brings on a true position battle at quarterback.

Red-shirt freshman Chris Laviano now has three straight weeks of playing experience after sitting out his first year in the program.

Laviano spent the week preparing as a starter with Nova's knee injury. He is 8-for-23 for 76 yards in four games off the bench. Laviano has not thrown a touchdown or interception, but led three scoring drives against Nebraska.
