When asked about positives seen during the three-game Rutgers losing streak, head coach Kyle Flood pointed first to his defensive secondary.
Flood said Sunday that the defense improving, and named Anthony Cioffi specifically as a young player getting better.
"The reality is we haven’t been 1-0 in three weeks. I certainly understand why somebody on the outside would see it that way,” Flood said. “When I look at our football team, I see guys like Nadir Barnwell, Anthony Cioffi, Delon Stephenson – young guys in that secondary now who are really starting to come on for us and help us play better defense.”
Cioffi has interceptions in consecutive weeks, and continues to play well as a gunner on special teams. After the 37-0 loss to Wisconsin, he explained what he saw and goals for the bye week.
