TENAFLY, N.J. -- Rutgers commit Nakia Griffin inches closer to enrollment as the end of his senior season at Tenafly (N.J.) approaches. caught up with the three-star tight end Thursday afternoon to talk about what has been a challenging senior season and the leadership role he took after committing to Rutgers during a spring unofficial visit.

Tight end Nakia Griffin knows about battling adversity, and how to deal with tough times on the football field. Griffin and Tenafly are on a seven-game losing streak to start the 2014 season.

Disappointed with the start to the year, Griffin also sees the positives in learning how to deal with adversity.

A long-time verbal commit to Rutgers, Griffin has a leadership role with Tenafly, and off the field as well in the Scarlet Knights 2015 recruiting class. Griffin was the second commitment to the class from New Jersey, and has been one of the most vocal in building the class to its current 22-player class.
