BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Rutgers coach Kyle Flood added a huge piece to his recruiting class in November with the verbal commitment of three-star wide receiver Freddie Simmons. The day before a round two playoff battle, the Bethlehem (Pa.) Catholic standout receiver spoke with Scout.com about his B1G commitment.
Freddie Simmons made Rutgers proud in the playoffs shortly after his verbal commitment. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound receiver caught nine passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns in a blowout round one victory over Leighton.
Simmons and Bethlehem (Pa.) Catholic return to the field Saturday night against Saucon Valley in the state quarterfinals.
Simmons picked Rutgers over more than a dozen FBS offers, and explained why he saw the Scarlet Knights as the best fit for his talents.
