Rivalry On

EDISON, N.J. -- The Rutgers and Seton Hall basketball rivalry heats up with the addition of a trophy to the bragging rights surrounding Saturday's tip-off. In an event at the Skylark Diner on Route 1, the Scarlet Knights and Pirates unveiled a trophy for the Garden State Classic between the two schools.

Hand made from wood from the Asbury Park board walk, Colin Pezzano's trophy goes to the winner of the Garden State Hardwood Classic Saturday, and sits with that program until next year's game.

Athletic directors and coaches from both programs attended the press conference at the Skylark Diner, and spoke about the meaning of the rivalry.

The trophy stands 32 inches tall and weighs 33 pounds. It goes to the winner Saturday with tipoff set for noon at the Prudential Center in Newark.
