After a weekend official visit in Piscataway, the Rutgers commit said he is ready to go.
“[The visit] actually made me feel really comfortable,” said Roberts, who enrolls in January. “I was very happy with the coaches and the environment. I’m comfortable coming in this January.”
Roberts is set academically for an early enrollment, which gives him a spot on the spring football roster.
“It is a little crazy,” Roberts said. “It hasn’t sunk in all the way. I think when I first get there, that first day in the weight room I guess it will.”
“It was cool building a relationship with those guys and see how they are,” Roberts said. “I spoke to them and about the coaches and how it could be [at Rutgers].”
Fellow New Yorker and linebacker Quentin Gause hosted Roberts.
“He’s a cool guy off the field,” Roberts said. “He’s a laid-back, chill guy. He’s very cool. [He said] it’s a lot of work and preparation. I have to be ready for that.”
Overall, the visit created a pair A-1 days.
“I enjoyed spending two nights with the players and learning from them,” Roberts said. “They were showing me everything and I met a lot of different people. The players and the coaches made it [memorable] – the food too.”
