FAU Commit Harris Has Options

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas receiver Jawuan Harris has his state championship, and now has some well-earned time for official visits. The speedy slot receiver is committed to FAU, the site of his first visit, but has at least one other official visit already set for January.

The Big Ten, ACC and American are all in pursuit of FAU commit Jawuan Harris from St. Thomas Aquinas high school.

The speedy slot receiver set a January official visit to Rutgers. Both Louisville and UCF could follow.

“I’m committed [to FAU], but I’m going to take some visits,” Harris said. “I’m looking to see about the campus life. I want to see how the players get along and how the coaching staff will treat me. I’m interested in the academic side as well.”

Rutgers visited Harris multiple times in December after the end of its regular season.

“I would definitely say Rutgers is showing the most love right now," Harris said. "They came in to see me, and told me they're really looking for a slot receiver."

The Scarlet Knights have 10 players from the Sunshine State on their active roster, including impact receiver Janarion Grant.

“I know mostly all of the coaches,” Harris said. “Coach Joe Rossi I know from him coming down here. I know coach Ben McDaniels, their receivers coach. I know coach Phil Galiano. Seven or eight of their coaches hit me up on Twitter and we talk.”

Louisville offered Harris after a strong showing at camp. The Cardinals are back in the picture now, where Harris could visit the week after he sees Rutgers.

“I went to Louisville this summer, and I camped,” Harris said. “I loved it up there. It was great. After their camp, I got a call about a week later and they offered me.”

The 5-foot-10, 187-pound slot receiver committed to FAU, which is the site of his first intended visit.

“They’re on the rise, and I like that they’re changing their program around with new facilities,” Harris said. “I like that it’s close to home.”

“They’re building a whole new stadium with an indoor facility, academic center, everything I’d need. They’re building new dorms for the student athletes.”

Harris named UCF as another school in consideration for a visit. Northwestern, Connecticut and Fordham remain in contact.
