Ford to Rutgers

Rutgers made a Florida splash Thursday night when it received a verbal commitment from four-star Gibonston (Fla.) East Bay defensive end Marques Ford. Ford, who decommitted from Tennessee earlier this week, pledged to Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood.

Business is about to pick up for Rutgers.

Head coach Kyle Flood accepted the verbal commitment of four-star defensive end Marques Ford Thursday night after a mid-week Tennessee decommitment. East Bay coach Frank Larosa confirmed the commitment to Scout.

Ford of Gibonston (Fla.) East Bay picked the Scarlet Knights over more than 25 other offers, and is expected to officially visit Piscataway in the final weekend before National Signing Day.

"Everything happens for a reason," Ford said on his Twitter account. "Now I know for sure everything is gonna work out...cause I am officially committed to Rutgers University"

Ford is the No. 5 defensive end in Florida and 30th at his position in the class of 2015.
