Knights in the NFL Combine

The next step is Rutgers pro day after NFL hopefuls Michael Burton and Tyler Kroft compete in Indianapolis this weekend at the combine.

NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said it best when fullback Michael Burton made his combine debut.

“He’s a thug, and I mean that in a good way,” Mayock said.

The walk-on turned team captain for Rutgers was one of two Scarlet Knights at the NFL Combine this weekend, and the West Morris Central product did what he needed to do.

One of only two fullbacks working at the NFL Combine, Burton measured in at 5-foot-11, 242 pounds. He led all running backs and fullbacks with 25 reps on the bench press. Burton clocked an unofficial 4.74 and 4.80 in his two attempts faster than more than a few running backs on the day.

Tight end Tyler Kroft did participate in drills or run Friday after an injury, but measured in well at 6-foot-5, 246 pounds. The pride of Downingtown (Pa.) East gets his second opportunity in front of scouts at the upcoming Rutgers pro day.

Rutgers is now complete at the 2015 NFL Combine with the March 11 pro day on campus as the next step.
