Rutgers Atop Mitchell's Early Top Six

Egg Harbor City (N.J.) Cedar Creek four-star receiver Ahmir Mitchell announced an early top six Friday night that includes schools from the Big Ten, SEC and ACC. Mitchell announced his list after a visit earlier this week to Rutgers.

Rutgers emerges as an early leader for four-star receiver Ahmir Mitchell after the in-state school hosted him this week on an unofficial visit.

Mitchell, who hails from Egg Harbor City (N.J.) Cedar Creek announced a top six schools Friday via social media. In order, Mitchell lists Rutgers, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Mississippi and Michigan.

Rutgers is the only school to host Mitchell on a visit from his top six.

"From talking to him, it sounds like it went great,” Cedar Creek coach Tim Watson told Scout regarding Mitchell's Rutgers visit. “They’ve been great when they were allowed to come through. It really seems like they are making him a priority and he seems to have had a good time.”

Watson added Rutgers, Ohio State and Notre Dame were recruiting Mitchell the hardest. “With Rutgers being in the Big Ten and going into their second year, it definitely changes the game for them,” Watson said. “He is definitely giving them a look and he likes them a lot.”

Mitchell is the younger brother of Arkansas quarterback Damon Mitchell, who chose the Razorbacks over Rutgers two years ago.
