DeMatha OL Recaps Rutgers Junior Day

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha offensive lineman Elijah Johnson spoke with Scout about a Saturday junior day visit to Rutgers, and where the Scarlet Knights stand in his recruitment.

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha offensive lineman Elijah Johnson enjoyed a Rutgers junior day visit to the point that a return trip to campus was on his mind immediately.

The 6-foot-5, 290-poun tackle prospect out of one of the top programs in the Northeast told Scout that he will be back at Rutgers soon.

“I loved my visit,” he said. “I had a great time because they’re great coaches at Rutgers. I can’t wait to be back for another visit.”

Johnson received academic information, a tour of the Rutgers facilities and more during a long Saturday in New Jersey.

“The coaching staff and the players stood out to me,” Johnson said. “It’s a family, for sure. That stood out to me a lot. They’re all great coaches, and great people. … I can’t wait to visit again just to see how all of the coaches work with their players in a practice.”

With a West Virginia offer and potential visit to Virginia Tech, Johnson said he is in no hurry for a decision.

“I’m going to take my time,” he said. “It’s important for me just to get a feel for every school recruiting me before I decide where I want to go.”
