Washington Discusses Rutgers Unofficial Visit

Rutgers hosted Vero Beach (Fla.) wide receiver Tyrrell Washington for a weekend unofficial visit, and the 6-foot-3 2016 prospect broke down the highlights of his day in Piscataway.

Vero Beach (Fla.) 2016 Tyrrell Washington followed Rutgers receivers long before his recruitment began, so a Friday opportunity to visit the Scarlet Knights meant a lot to the 6-foot-3 receiver.

Washington visited Rutgers while in New Jersey with family, and described his on-campus experience as “a great visit.”

“I’d been watching [former Rutgers receiver] Brandon Coleman a lot and I really like him,” Washington said. “That’s when I started liking Rutgers a lot. My dad asked if I wanted to come to Rutgers, and that was definitely yes. We had a good time.”

Washington did not leave campus with an offer. The coaching staff, however, told him one could come soon after a visit during the spring evaluation period. His visit ended with a 1-on-1 meeting in coach Kyle Flood’s office.

“I really liked him,” Washington said. “He was all about family and life after football. He makes sure we’re always doing the right thing and focused on their grades and all of that stuff.”

Washington watched a Rutgers practice and cited junior receiver Carlton Agudosi as someone that stood out.

“They’re a pretty strong unit,” Washington said. “I spent a lot of time with Carlton. He was awesome. He looked great, and he was a monster at their practice.”

Washington received a behind the scenes tour before he left, and has visits scheduled to Georgia Southern and FAU.

“The weight room and facilities were one of my favorite parts,” Washington said. “It was really nice. I didn’t expect it to be as nice as it was. The player’s lounge was nice too. They had video games set up and a place to watch movies. They have some good stuff.”
