Scout TV: Carroo Strong in First Scrimmage

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Leonte Carroo caught Saturday's lone touchdown pass at Rutgers, and worked hard for both quarterback competitors. As Carroo and the rest of the offense moves on from Gary Nova, the school's top receiver broke down what he saw during scrimmage No. 1.

Nobody knows better than Leonte Carroo when it comes to comfort level with Rutgers quarterback competitors Chris Laviano and Hayden Rettig.

Last season's top offensive weapon caught three passes, including a touchdown, in Saturday's scrimmage. With neither Laviano nor Rettig made available to discuss quarterback, Carroo stepped in with his own analysis.

"I'm glad they were out here competing and having fun," Carroo said. "Chris and Hayden are both having a good time trying to figure out which one is going to lead this team, but so far both of them have been doing a great job."

Carroo caught a red-zone touchdown from Laviano on one of the highlight plays of Saturday. Laviano led both touchdown drives for Rutgers and was the first man out with the starters at quarterback.

"His ability to show in the red zone that he can run the ball helped," Carroo said. "On the second play, we ran the same play and he found me in the back of the end zone. He's going out here competing."
