Federico Looks for Bounce Back

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Senior kicker Kyle Federico did not have a scrimmage to remember when he missed five field goals and an extra point on 12 total attempts. Federico addressed the error he saw Saturday, and his goals in the final week of training camp during a post-practice discussion.

Kicker Kyle Federico made just three of eight field goal attempts during the last Scarlet Knight scrimmage.

Federico made no excuses for his troubles, and instead offered an explanation on how he fixed the problem.

"I went back in, looked at the film and saw maybe my plant foot was a little off, causing everything else, so I just came back out here today and made that my main focus," Federico said. "I came through."

Federico nailed the game-winning field goal during Monday situationals.

After three inconsistent seasons, Federico said he is better at a one-day-at-a-time approach. With no Nick Borgese to push him, Federico faces minimal competition for his final Rutgers season.

"I got hurt my freshman year and sophomore year, I started off terrible and had to bounce back from that," he said. "I'm also seeing that with practice coming off a bad scrimmage, today my main goal no matter how many opportunities I get, I want to make everything."
