Valentin learned of a Rutgers offer during school, and is excited to add another Big Ten offer to his growing list.
“It’s exciting that things are starting to kick in now,” Valentin said. “It felt good getting that one from Rutgers because it’s close to home and they have one of the best football programs in the country. They put a lot of guys in the [National Football] League. That’s all I ask for.
Rutgers assistant Darrell Wilson visited Imhotep recently, where the Scarlet Knights are recruiting many of Valentin’s teammates as well.
“I’ve also talked to their offensive line coach (Mitch Browning) and [special teams coordinator Phil Galiano],” Valentin said. “They stop by our school a lot. They came out to watch us work out and stuff like that.”
Valentin wants to visit Rutgers for a closer look at the program, but does not have anything set.
“I still have a lot to learn about them, really,” he said. “But I do know that they make good players. They develop their talent, and they have a good program.”
Valentin was one of the top offensive line performers at Sunday’s Opening regional in Florham Park, N.J. Interest in the 6-foot-4 lineman is on the rise after he earned an invitation to the Opening as one of the top players alongside teammate Naseir Upshur.
