R B1G Tour: Coach Kyle Flood

EAST HANOVER, N.J. -- Rutgers coach Kyle Flood met the media Thursday night during a fan event where he discussed the spring evaluation period, upcoming summer workouts and the latest in the two-man quarterback battle.

Rarely does Rutgers coach Kyle Flood speak before the topic quickly moves to his ongoing quarterback battle.

The fourth-year head coach maintains a targeted decision date of the first seven to 10 days of training camp when it comes to Chris Laviano or Hayden Rettig.

Laviano sits ahead of Rettig after spring practice, but summer workouts with the players could be an equalizer.

"I think that's what the summer is really going to determine," Flood said. "We'll make a decision seven to 10 days in [to training camp]. That's usually the line of demarcation in terms of when you have to do it. I don't think there's a tremendous difference between Chris and Hayden. I just think, Chris is a little bit ahead. That's why I said what I said."

Flood discussed a variety of topics from Miami Mike's Sports Zone, including the recruiting path since the start of spring evaluation.
