Recruitment Heats up for WR Gray

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. -- Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep receiver K.J. Gray checks in with Scout for the latest on his recruitment, and where in-state Rutgers stands heading into a busy summer.

Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep receiver K.J. Gray knows plenty about his home-state school, and wants to give Rutgers a stronger look moving into the summer.

Gray holds seven verbal scholarship offers, including Rutgers, and made a name for himself during spring evaluation at St. Peter’s Prep.

“It’s a lot of fun,” Gray said. “Coaches are coming in to see me. They’re liking what they see. I just got an offer from UMass this week. There should be a lot of coaches coming next week as well.”

Rutgers offered Gray early, and hosted him on multiple visits during the last six months.

“I like Rutgers,” he said. “I like that it’s the home state. The atmosphere there is tremendous. The coaches are really enthusiastic, and they’re nagging me every day.”

Former Prep Marauder Savon Huggins, who graduates from Rutgers this weekend, speaks highly about his experiences in Piscataway with Gray.

“Savon said that he likes Rutgers,” he said. “He said that to produce for your home state is a blessing. … “I have two little brothers at home that love to watch me play, so I’m definitely considering a close school when I make my decision.”

Syracuse is also aggressive in Gray’s recruitment.

“I like Syracuse a lot,” he said. “I like that they’re playing in the Dome up there. The ‘Cuse Twitter Army’ is always out there. I’m considering them a lot. They’re very interested in me coming up there to play.”
