Scout TV: Barchi Meets the Press

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- Rutgers University president Robert Barchi did not detail the timetable or financial projections for its approved upgrades, but spoke with the media about the move to Big Ten competitive facilities.

Rutgers wants to show a stronger commitment to the future of its athletics programs, and the unveiled master plan for facility upgrades became the newest step Thursday at a Board of Governors meeting.

University president Robert Barchi discussed what little details he could, including the importance of improved facilities after limited support in recent years.

"If you look at the plan that we have out there and what we’re doing, we’re not talking about creating Taj Mahals,” Barchis said. “We’re not talking about even creating necessarily a bunch of free-standing entities. We’re talking about bringing current facilities that have not had any investment in years up to what’s a reasonable state.”
