Reynolds Still Set on Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – It was a memorable Friday for Brooklyn Poly Prep linebacker Elias Reynolds, who saw his teammate commit to Rutgers during the Big Man Academy. Reynolds spoke with Scarlet Report about his teammate’s commitment, and the aftermath of a visit to Nebraska.

Brooklyn Poly Prep three-star linebacker Elias Reynolds planned and paid for a Nebraska visit before his Rutgers commitment. So when Reynolds visited after he pledged to Rutgers, he had no plans of a flip.

“It was just a visit – nothing serious,” Reynolds said. “I’m definitely committed to Rutgers.”

Reynolds is now one of three Poly Prep players committed to Rutgers for the next two years. Preferred walk-on Chris Parker enrolls this summer as a 2015, and 6-foot-6, 330-pound offensive lineman Justin Morgan committed Friday.

Morgan verbally committed to coach Kyle Flood in his office minutes after the camp’s conclusion.

“It’s dope to be able to play in college with one of my teammates,” Reynolds said. “He’s one of the hardest workers I know. At this time last year, he was a 400-pound kid and now he’s down to about 330. He works hard, and he’s still going.

“He’s kind of a leader to the young guys. He leads by example, and he gets vocal when he needs to be.”

Reynolds visited Rutgers Friday – his first since a verbal commitment – and spent time with Flood and the rest of the coaching staff.

“I love coach Flood,” Reynolds said. “He’s the best guy ever. Everything is good. They’ve treated me the same since I committed. It’s the same love from even before I got offered. It’s a great place.”

Reynolds also enjoyed time with fellow linebacker commit Jonathan Pollock and red-shirt freshman defensive tackle Kevin Wilkins.

“It’s cool to have a Florida guy come up and get to meet with him,” he said. “I liked talking to him, and also talk to the guys that are working here as coaches – the players.”
