Rutgers Training Camp Report: Practice 9

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The quarterback battle remains undecided, and coach Kyle Flood discussed the latest out of practice heading into the second scrimmage.

The Headline -- Senior receiver Leonte Carroo missed Wednesday’s practice for injury reasons. With the star receiver out of action, juniors Carlton Agudosi and Janarion Grant stepped into bigger action.

Flood said he hopes Carroo is back for Saturday’s decisive scrimmage.

“If it’s necessary to [update the injury report] before the next scrimmage, I will but I don’t anticipate that,” Flood said. “I expect him to scrimmage.”

Carroo caught three passes for 45 yards in Monday's scrimmage.

Worth Noting -- When asked if there were any changes in the quarterback battle, Flood said “no, nothing right now.”

Scarlet Report Standout -- Sophomore left guard Dorian Miller – Miller paved the way for the two biggest plays of Wednesday’s practice. Both long runs by Paul James, Miller looks more comfortable and confident as he prepares for his first year as a starter.

Quote of the Day -- “By no means have I arrived yet. I’m still out here grinding with my teammates and trying to get better.” – Kaiwan Lewis on rise to starting linebacker.
