Tuesday Game Week Report: Kyle Flood Presser

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers coach Kyle Flood and players faced the media for the first time since two closed practices. Flood turned the attention to the depth chart, injury report and Norfolk State game week in his weekly pre-game press conference.

The Headline – After the release of a game-week injury report, head coach Kyle Flood updated the cornerback situation with more news. Sophomore cornerback Dre Boggs (upper body) is healthy and starts alongside freshman Blessuan Austin. With a first-half suspension to co-starter Ruhann Peele, look for true freshman Jarius Adams to push for playing time as the fourth cornerback.

“We've gotten updated medical information on Dre Boggs, so he will be able to play this week and he will be the starter," Flood said.

Worth Noting  -- Fifth-year senior Paul James earned the first carry at running back in his return from injury, but the breakdown of reps between four co-starters remains an intentional mystery.

“I wouldn't want to divulge [the reps] now," Flood said. "I think you guys will see it and we'll have a plan for it before Saturday."

Quote of the Day -- “Really I'm just thinking about getting in the end zone. That's kind of my thought every play. Really, I'm focused about what I have to do that play and what my reads for getting the ball and everything. If it's a run, if it's a pass, I'm focused on what I have to do." Paul James on his return to the field.

Around the Big Ten – While Rutgers prepares for Norfolk State, mid-season opponent Wisconsin faces a much tougher test early against Alabama.  For more information, click here.
