Flood Dismisses Five Arrested Players

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers coach Kyle Flood dismissed all five players arrested prior to kickoff Saturday in the season opener.

Rutgers coach Kyle Flood dismissed all five players involved in Thursday’s arrests on campus, he announced. The Scarlet Knights announced before kickoff that Nadir BarnwellRuhann PeeleDre BoggsDelon Stephenson and Razohnn Gross are no longer with the program.

Police arrested all five Thursday and athletic director Julie Hermann announced indefinite suspensions shortly thereafter. Boggs and former player Tejay Johnson are accused of robbery and home invasion charges with the others accused of assault.

The Scarlet Knights have four open scholarships following the dismissal and started Isaiah Wharton and Anthony Cioffi as replacements in the defensive secondary. Freshmen Blesssuan Austin, Jarius Adams and Ronnie James all dressed for kickoff at cornerback.
