Simple Assault Charges against Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo Expected to be Dropped Today

Rutgers has a chance at much-needed good news before kickoff against No. 3 Michigan State with the latest development in charges against star receiver Leonte Carroo, who missed the last two games as a part of his indefinite suspension.

Simple Assault charges against Rutgers captain Leonte Carroo are expected to be dropped later today, and the topic quickly came up on this week’s Big Ten teleconference with associate head coach Norries Wilson.

Carroo received an indefinite suspension from head coach Kyle Flood after an incident that followed the loss to Washington State. He remains suspended as the program awaits the conclusion of the legal process. Carroo's lawyers expect the charges to be dropped today per multiple reports.

“I just got off the practice field and that’s an ongoing situation that I’m not going to comment on,” Wilson said to open the call.

Carroo caught seven passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns in his first two games. He missed games against Penn State and Kansas because of suspension, but could return Saturday night against No. 3 Michigan State.
