Monday Rutgers Report: On To Wisconsin

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers faces similar questions this week as an underdog to Wisconsin and a questionable status for star receiver Leonte Carroo. Coach Kyle Flood discussed the latest Monday during his weekly press conference.

The Headline – Another week and another underdog challenge for Rutgers. Yet again, the Scarlet Knights enter practice with concern for star receiver Leonte Carroo.

Carroo remains questionable after he re-injured his ankle in a 49-7 loss to Ohio State.

“I think it will be a very similar situation to last week where we are not going to know until the end of the week what we think the situation will be,” said Rutgers coach  Kyle Flood.

Carroo caught three passes for 55 yards before his injury. Carroo did not practice until Thursday during Ohio State game week.

Worth Noting – It is a special week for Rutgers safety Andre Hunt, who travels to the site of many youth memories. Hunt’s father, Leon Hunt, played running back for Wisconsin and the family frequently visited Camp Randall.

“He graduated in ’98 with Wisconsin,” Hunt said. “He obviously is a big Wisconsin fan, but obviously this week he’s a Rutgers fan.”

Quote of the Day – “We have a starting quarterback and I always felt like you want to give the starting quarterback an opportunity to learn through the game; and learn from game-to-game which we have done with Chris [Laviano]. I think although the last game was not his best performance, I think if we look at the season, he's gotten better and better and I'm pleased with how he's progressing and that's how we'll move forward.” – Flood on the lack of Hayden Rettig use this season.
