Source: Chris Ash To Become Rutgers Football Coach Pending Monday Board Approval

Rutgers will name Ohio State defensive coordinator Chris Ash as its new head coach Monday pending board approval from the university, a school official confirmed to Scarlet Report.

Rutgers football has its new coach in Ohio State defensive coordinator Chris Ash, according to a school official. The school official requested anonymity because it is not yet authorized to speak on the subject.

The decision awaits board approval before Ash can be presented as a head coach. The board meeting will be Monday at noon with a press conference expected to follow.

Athletic director Pat Hobbs declined comment.

Ash joins the Rutgers staff after a national championship with the Buckeyes and solid play-calling stints with both Arkansas and Wisconsin.

The 41-year old Ash from Ottumwa, Iowa was one of the first Rutgers contacted during its search and was a high-interest candidate from the beginning, sources said.
