Chris Ash Wins Day One of Rutgers Regime

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Scarlet Report takes an in-depth look at the first day of the Chris Ash era at Rutgers including a post-press conference breakdown with national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn and Rutgers publisher Sam Hellman.

After Ohio State defensive coordinator Chris Ash inked a five-year deal with Rutgers Monday, the new head football coach receivbed his formal introduction from athletic director Patrick Hobbs and president Robert Barchi in a press conference.

During the 30-minute media session, Ash spoke in detail about his vision for Rutgers football and the assurances he received from Hobbs and Board of Governors chair Greg Brown during the interview process.

Hobbs, who won his own first week in charge, called Ash the most impressive interview in 25 years.

Ash turns his attention back to Ohio State on Tuesday before he hits the recruiting trail in Florida Wednesday. The Ash recruiting era began Monday night, however, with phone calls to multiple Rutgers prospects.

Ash received plenty of welcome from his players Monday.
