Chris Ash has a plan in place for his assistant coaches, and the first received his formal introduction Thursday afternoon in an announcement from the new Rutgers football head coach. Ash is close to multiple hires on his staff, and formally named his first in Vince Okruch as special teams coordinator.
"I am excited to welcome Vince to the Rutgers coaching staff,” Ash said in a statement. “I have worked side by side with him the past two years and have been impressed with his professionalism, knowledge of the game and his connection with the players.”
Okruch joins Ash in the move from Ohio State to Rutgers. A long-time Big Ten presence in the kicking game, Okruch worked as Urban Meyer's quality control assistant. He hails from Buffalo, N.Y.
Okruch is already on the road for Rutgers after a Wednesday night in-home visit with Cumming (Ga.) South Forsyth kicker commit Alex Barbir.
