A chat with Dan Waterstradt

Dan  Waterstradt, 6-10, PF, Redford Catholic Central HS (Michigan)

On Sunday morning I caught up with Rutgers newest basketball recruit and he had this to say about his verbal to Rutgers.

On why he chose Rutgers

"Well. I liked Coach Waters a lot and Coach DeSimpelare. It is an opportunity to play at the Big East level. I liked the campus a lot. When we went we visit the RAC I was impressed. I had seen pictures of it but I had never seen it in person. In the pictures it didn't seem that big. It was really amazing to see it in person. It is big."

Last Season Honors

"I got a few. I made honorable mention All State. All Catholic League. All League. I was First Team All Metro in Detroit."

Last Season's Statistics

"I had 16 PPG and 13 RPG."

On the changes in the Big East

"It didn't bother me at all. Whatever they work out in changing the league will work fine. Basketball is really strong in the Big East. Just look at programs like Syracuse. I don't think that will change."

What he brings to a program

"I will work hard. I will hustle a lot and do what is necessary for the team. I think my greatest strength as a player is my jump shot. I look at myself more as a power forward more than anything else. I am 220 now but I'll be in the weight room to build up my strength."
