Report: Chris Ash Tabs Drew Mehringer as Rutgers Offensive Coordinator

Rutgers coach Chris Ash made his second play-calling hire public Sunday morning when he confirmed Houston receivers coach Drew Mehringer his offensive coordinator to Sports Illustrated. Mehringer joins special teams coordinator Vince Okruch on Ash's staff.

Coach Chris Ash made his vision of the Rutgers offense clear in his first days on the job, and 28-year old Drew Mehringer became the man for the job. Ash confirmed the hire of Houston's first-year wide receivers coach Sunday to Sports Illustrated.

Mehringer has play-calling and quarterback experience at James Madison but rose to prominance as a two-year graduate assistant at Ohio State. Mehringer worked as a protege for Tom Herman at Houston. He also served as the school's recruiting coordinator with the No. 32 overall class in the country and best in the American Athletic Conference.
