The stressful part os over for Colonia (N.J.) linebacker Solomon Manning after he signed paperwork Sunday that sets him up for early enrollment at nearby Rutgers. Manning officially visited Rutgers this weekend, and signed Big Ten financial aid papers Sunday at a team banquet.
"It felt great, like the right conclusion to my recruitment," Manning said. "It was a big relief."
"I got to meet all of the players and have a great time," Manning said. "It was great getting all of the academic answers I needed. That was big. My favorite part was just getting to know all of the players."
Pollock and Manning plan to be roommates when they begin at Rutgers in January.
"I'm excited," Manning said. "We're both good, competitive linebackers so it should be very interesting. We're going to work together and push each other."
Manning spent significant weekend time with host Brandon Russell.
"He was kind of a quiet guy but I learned a lot from him," Manning said. "He told me a lot about what I need to prepare for and different things I can expect when I get there. I liked him a lot. He gave me a heads up on what I need to know."
Ash visited Manning twice on Thursday but the only coach with which he spent time during the weekend was graduate assistant Scott Vallone.
"Coach Scott Vallone is a good coach," Manning said. "He's really cool and all of the players like him. He's young, so he connects with all of the players and the recruits."
