Report: Chris Ash Lands A.J. Blazek on Coaching Staff

Western Illinois assistant coach A.J. Blazek, who played center for Iowa, joins coach Chris Ash's staff at Rutgers, reports FootballScoop.com.

Rutgers has a former Big Ten offensive linemanon staff in Western Illinois line coach A.J. Blazek, reports FootballScoop.com.

Blazek joins offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer and special teams coordinator Vince Okruch on Chris Ash's staff.

The 37-year old Blazek brings more youth and Big Ten experience to the Rutgers coaching staf after he spent the last three years as the offensive line coach with Western Illinois. Blazek began his coaching career under Kirk Ferentz at Iowa, where he was a two-year starter at center.

Offensive line recruiting is a priority for Rutgers with only Elijah Johnson and Nick Krimin with targets like Lucas Niang and JohnCarlo Valentin still available.
