Diallo Returns in Latest Rutgers Blowout Loss, 98-59 at Northwestern

Rutgers fell 98-59 Saturday at Northwestern for the 31st Big Ten loss in a row. Struggling coach Eddie Jordan closes out the 2015-16 road season winless after the team fell to 6-23 overall.

Center Ibrahima Diallo returned for Rutgers Saturday but one more big man made little difference in a 98-59 loss at Northwestern.

Diallo returned after coach Eddie Jordan described him as out for the season, and the red-shirt freshman big man scored three points and committed three fouls off the bench.

The latest game that became hopeless quickly, the Scarlet Knights are now 3-31 on the road under Jordan and losers of 31 consecutive regular-season Big Ten games. Freshman forward Jonathan Laurent remains the go-to guy for the Scarlet Knights. The Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips product logged team highs in points (17) and rebounds (six). Graduate transfer Omari Grier showcased improvement with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.

Rutgers (6-23, 0-16) could have a somewhat whole roster when it returns to the court for Michigan State. With Diallo and Greg Lewis back in the rotation and star Corey Sanders reinstated from suspension, Rutgers has nine scholarship players potentially available.
