Rutgers Leonte Carroo NFL Draft Preview

The Scout Network looks at former Rutgers wide receiver Leonte Carroo with the NFL Combine now behind him. Carroo is back in New Jersey to train for next week's Rutgers pro day event. The former Scarlet Knight team captain enters the final leg of draft prep with momentum after a solid performance in Indianapolis.

The star of the Rutgers 2015 offense -- Leonte Carroo -- was solid last week at the NFL Combine but he needs a stronger performance March 9 at the Rutgers Pro Day to climb into the top tier of receiver prospects.

Carroo easily passes the film test as a massive deep-ball threat and consistent weapon for both Gary Nova and Chris Laviano. Carroo worked out with a solid performance in drills and adequate size at 6-foot, 211 pounds. His 4.50 40-yard dash time fell short of expectations, however he projects to run better next week from the friendly confines of Rutgers' indoor facilities.

Carroo brings off-the-field questions after multiple suspensions as a senior, and an injury history does not help. What does help, however, is a true Big Ten body of work. Carroo proved that his junior season was no fluke and finishes as one of the all-time Rutgers greats with 29 receiving touchdowns and 1,564 yards in two-and-a-half seasons on the field.
