Freshman Star Corey Sanders Again Voices Support for Eddie Jordan at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- With another opportunity on senior day after a victory over Minnesota, Rutgers star freshman Corey Sanders used the spotlight to voice his continued support for coach Eddie Jordan, who finished the Big Ten season with a 1-17 record in 2016.

Rutgers star freshman Corey Sanders speaks up for coach Eddie Jordan whenever possible and the point guard did so again Saturday afternoon after the end of a 17-game losing streak.

Sanders, who fulled the stat sheet with 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists and six steals, remains a vocal supporter of his head coach.

"I'm a big coach Jordan fan," Sanders said. "That's my man. I got his back 1,000 [percent]. I know this win is taking a little pressure off him, but we're still trying to get more wins coming to the Big Ten Tournament. We know we're the underdogs, but anything is possible. I'm working for him."

Sanders is a Big Ten Freshman of the Year candidate despite his four-game suspension and the 1-17 team record in conference play. He concludes the regular season as a statistical leader of both Rutgers and conference freshmen with 16.2 points per game, 1.8 steals and 4.3 assists.
