On the Recruiting Trail

Young ....

With Rutgers having only limited scholarships to give I have been focusing a bit on underclassmen. Next year's class should be great one. Myron Rolle, 6-3, 200, 4.49, DB, RB will be high on everyone's list. A great athlete and a great student athlete and leader, he'll be one of the most sought after players in the state.

However, the player who might be shaping up as the top prospect next year is 6-6, 320 pound Eugene Monroe out of Plainfield. He has size, agility and strength. At least one national publication has him tabbed as Jersey's top player in 2004.

...  and getting younger.

Anthony Ferla recently came back from LSU's football camp and again did pretty well. Without question, some of the top rising senior and rising junior talent in the country attended this one. At the BAMA camp a few weeks ago Ferla was exclusively at corner, at the TIGER one, he was both at Corner and at Safety. For the rising sophomore, he was in the top (2) attendees for his age group.

Anthony is still at 5ft10 177lbs as a (15) year old sophomore-to-be at St Joseph Regional in Montvale. He is expected to be invited to the "US Army All-American Combine in San Antonio, Texas this January.

But what about verbals for this year?

Super running back Jean Beljour out of Hackensack is down to Rutgers and Syracuse. Rumor is that Rutgers has the edge but Beljour is going to take his time and think things over. You gotta hope that the Knights beat the Orangemen this year. Who knows, it could make the difference.
