Video Discussion: Is Rutgers President Robert Barchi More Committed to Athletics?

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Hidden away in a 30-minute welcoming session for new basketball coach Steve Pikiell was a unique and illuminating comment from president Robert Barchi. Scout's Brian Dohn and Sam Hellman covered the ceremony and discuss the meaning behind Barchi's comments and changes at Rutgers.

While sports information director Kevin Lorincz introduced Steve Pikiell as new Rutgers basketball coach, university president Robert Barchi sat on the edge of his chair with a message he wanted to deliver.

Three hours after Barchi led a unanimous Board of Governors approval, he delivered a notable comment to the horde in attendance at Pikiell's press conference.

"I just want to say a few things about how we got to this point. We go back three months ago. In the last three months we've really pretty much taken a new look at sports here at Rutgers, with hiring Pat Hobbs as our AD, hiring a new head football coach, and finishing the Trifecta today with a new basketball coach. I couldn't be more delighted. I have to say that the hiring of the basketball coach is 100% the job of the AD."

Scout's Brian Dohn and Sam Hellman break down the meaning behind Barchi's words and if a more committed university toward athletics is possible after the Pat Hobbs takeover.
