Commit Bryce Watts' Rutgers Roots Date Back to Childhood Greg Schiano Meeting,

Toms River (N.J.) North 2017 athlete Bryce Watts calls himself a life-long Rutgers fan, and the second commitment in coach Chris Ash's recruiting class has photo evidence.

During a decade as Rutgers football head coach, Greg Schiano wanted to see kids that grew up Rutgers. For class of 2017 commit Bryce Watts, the Toms River (N.J.) North star is a prototype.

Watts followed Rutgers since childhood with a mother and step father as former athletes, but his best memory came as a 7-year old when he met Schiano on campus. Ten years later, Schiano is on pace to coach against Watts in 2017 when Ohio State returns to Piscataway and Watts enrolls as a true freshman for coach Chris Ash.

"I went for a basketball game but then I was taking a tour and looking around the football hall," Watts said. "I went with my stepdad and I saw coach Schiano standing there. I actually took a picture with him and I still have it."

Watts committed to Rutgers on Easter, less than 24 hours after he completed an unofficial visit to Syracuse.

Watts discussed his commitment in detail, and family ties to the program, in this week's free Rutgers Scoutcast.
