Ferrine went on a small tour of some schools this summer. Ferrine camped at Georgia Tech, then drove with his father to Penn State, and Notre Dame for one day camps. "I had a pretty good time at all the camps" Ferrine said. "Notre Dame's camp was a lot of fun. I think I did pretty well at the camp. There wasn't a lot to do in South Bend, but me and my dad went to the College Football Hall of Fame. That was real cool. I also got a tour of the campus and that was great. It's a really small school which is good for me because I don't really like to be around a lot of people all of the time."
While he was in South Bend, did he have a chance to talk to Coach Tyrone Willingham? "Yes! I got an opportunity to have a one on one conversation with Coach Willingham. He was a great guy. He reminded me a lot of my father. In fact, Coach Willingham and my father basically grew up in the same area. They know a lot of the same people which is pretty cool. They really relate to each other, and I can really relate to Coach Willingham." Ferrine said.
What are the main things Ferrine will focus on when deciding on a school? "Tradition, and Education will be the main factors when I decide. I'm not planning on deciding any time soon though. Honestly, it's not something that's on my mind at this point. I'm planning on taking all five of my visits, and decide in February.
Comments: Ferrine really likes Notre Dame. He was really trying to play it cool, and had to catch himself from sounding too happy about Notre Dame. The Irish are already one of the teams at the top of his list, and will solidify their spot there is they decide to offer. He want's to go to a school with a great tradition and great education. Notre Dame fits the bill. He's also a Catholic school student and traditionally that's been a plus. This one will play out for a while. IrishEyes will check back in with Ferrine during the season to find out what schools he will visit, and to see if things change.
