Three-star receiver Eddie Lewis had a busy Wednesday but made sure there was time at night for a camp experience alongside the Rutgers coaches.
Lewis arrived at the midway point of Wednesday's Tri-State Showcase to compete in 1-on-1 drills.
“It was a highlight for me so far,” Lewis said. “It was good working with [the Rutgers] coaches. I got a chance to see how they work together.”
Rutgers sits firmly in a Lewis top five and could receive another visit before the end of the camp season.
“Rutgers is a family environment, that's the first thing,” Lewis said. “When I visited there, the education and opportunities stood out. My parents liked it a lot but I liked it even more. Finally, there's the football aspect. They're trying to build a tradition there.”
Rutgers commits Everett Wormley and Johnathan Lewis are among the most aggressive recruiters for Eddie Lewis, he said.
“It's fun to hear from them.” Lewis said. “I was just speaking with John at the camp, and he kept asking when I'm going to commit. It means a lot to hear from them and recognize that they see talent in me and my work ethic.”
In recruiting, Lewis' next visit is to Indiana after he recently picked up a Syracuse offer. Boston College and North Carolina round out his top five with no timeframe for an announcement.
“It's all good,” Lewis said. “I just released my top five, as you know, and it hasn't changed. It's still the same schools there.”
